Goodbye Beautiful Northwest

Hiking with Sahale.  The funnest dog you've ever met.
Packing, packing.

I am so easily distracted when I pack.  I find things I haven't seen in years, and 30 minutes later I realize I'm not packing anymore.

Today's efficiency was not helped by the fact that we had no water at our house either.  In fact, I was really reminded of Nepal.  During the night, some really bright person decided to steal the neutral power line all along the bottom of our property.  To sell for copper I am sure.  Who does this?  I thought this only happened in 3rd world countries?!  So this morning we woke up with no electricity, and there were a couple of trucks from Pacific Power working on it all morning.  Sometime in the afternoon, the power returned... but our water supply did not.  After testing every alternative possibility, we had to accept the fact that, yes, our well pump had burned up in a power surge.  Awesome.

Tomorrow morning, after showering at our neighbors', my mom and I will drive to California.  I think I've told everyone who's asked recently about how excited I am to be in school again.  But now, as I load everything into the car - and my dog sulks about it - I am not ready to leave.  Somehow, the hardest part about leaving is that my dog and I have become best buds, and she is not happy about my leaving.  Seriously, even ask my mom - Sahale loves me more than anyone else.

But the fact is, I am leaving tomorrow.  I am excited, and I really need some sleep.
