Resilience

If there's one thing PT school has taught me, it's resilience.

Today was probably one of the worst days of my life, academically speaking.  We're pressing through midterms, and today, as a class, we cried over them.  (Which is comforting, at least I'm not alone.)

After failing a couple tests and suffering through another class, we had a tiny bit of time to kill while waiting for a review session to start.  We all went to the market to eat away our sorrows.  An employee asked me if I was finding everything alright, to which I replied, "You know, we were really just hoping you had some samples over here," pointing to the baked goods.  Shameless.  He laughed, "You know Friday is the best day for that."  Alexis says, "Yeah, but Friday isn't the day we have two horrible tests; today is."  About a minute later, the guy comes back and finds us, "They have samples over at the juice bar, you should go over there."  YES.  They had chips with homemade salsa and guacamole - Delicious!  I also ate some dried fruit, soy jerky, and four pieces of almond roca, shared from my classmates.  Yeah, about that emotional eating...

I got home at 6:15, whereupon I ate some more, and found out I had a soccer game 5 minutes after it was supposed to have started.  If I didn't go, they'd have to forfeit.  I went - it was our first game of the season and none of us had ever played together before.  I got stuck as goalie, um, not my best position.  We lost, 3-7.  But it's ok, we weren't even upset about it.  We played really well, for having never played together and having no subs.  I'm so glad I went.  I love soccer, even if I am pretty terrible.

That was my day.  It was pretty sucky.  But about that resilience.  I've got no other choice.  I've got to move forward, I only have more tests and a practical in store.  I'd rather do nothing else.

(That's what I'm telling myself anyway.)
